How We Build a Treatment

Every treatment at Vaughn & Sons starts with a short consultation — we ask about skin sensitivities, current stress levels, and any areas requiring particular attention. From that conversation we select or adjust the botanical blend for your session. Massage therapists work with warm-infused oils drawn from our in-house botanical bar; facial therapists layer serums, masks, and mists in a sequence calibrated to your skin type. We do not use any synthetic fragrance, parabens, or petrochemical emulsifiers — if you want to know every ingredient in the product touching your skin, our therapist can walk you through the full INCI list. Treatment durations are honest: a 60-minute treatment is 60 minutes of hands-on time, not 45 minutes of therapy bookended by a 15-minute sales conversation. Robes, slippers, and a restorative herbal tea from our own dried-herb blends are included with every booking.

Seasonal Specials and Gift Vouchers

Each quarter we introduce a seasonal special that draws on what is freshest in the alpine botanical calendar. Spring brings elderflower and hawthorn preparations; autumn shifts to rosehip, arnica root, and warming cinnamon bark extracts. These specials are limited to the season — we do not stockpile out-of-season botanicals for convenience. Gift vouchers for any treatment or any monetary value are available at reception and by email request. Vouchers are valid for 12 months, are non-refundable but fully transferable, and can be used for any item on the treatment menu. A printed voucher in a handmade paper envelope can be arranged with two working days notice — a detail many guests have told us makes the gift feel genuinely considered.

Treatment Questions Answered

Do I need to arrive early for my appointment?

We ask guests to arrive ten minutes before their appointment to complete a brief consultation card and change into a robe. Your treatment time is protected — the clock starts on the table, not at the door. If you arrive late, we will always do our best to accommodate, but in high-demand periods we may need to shorten the session to protect the next guest's booking.

Are your products safe for sensitive or allergy-prone skin?

All our botanical formulas are free from synthetic fragrance, parabens, and petrochemical fillers. However, natural does not mean hypoallergenic — some guests react to specific plant extracts such as arnica or essential oils. Our pre-treatment consultation covers known sensitivities, and every therapist carries full INCI lists. If you have a diagnosed contact allergy, please email us ahead of your booking so we can select an appropriate formula.

Can I request a specific therapist?

Yes — when booking by phone or email, simply name your preferred therapist and we will match your appointment to their schedule where possible. We have a small, stable team; most guests who visit more than once develop an ongoing relationship with a single therapist, which genuinely improves treatment outcomes over time.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations inside 24 hours are charged 50 % of the treatment value. No-shows are charged in full. We understand that plans change, and for a first-time cancellation within our regular guest community we apply the charge with discretion — but the policy exists to protect our therapists' livelihoods.

Do you offer couple's treatments or group bookings?

We have one dual treatment room that accommodates two guests simultaneously. Couple's bookings are popular on weekends and should be reserved at least a week in advance. For groups of four or more — hen parties, team wellness days, birthday groups — please contact us by email to discuss a tailored programme; we can arrange an exclusive morning or afternoon with a dedicated therapist team.

Are the treatments suitable during pregnancy?

Several treatments are adapted for pregnancy, including a side-lying botanical massage using gentle, pregnancy-safe oils and a hydrating facial suitable from the second trimester onwards. A number of essential oils used in standard treatments are contraindicated during pregnancy — please inform us at booking and our therapists will design a session specifically for you.
